Festivals of
Nepal |
Several colorful festivals occurs in each month, which are usually
performed in temples. Bisket Jatra begins in the
first day of Nepalese New Year (14th April). It is
particularly a lively festival in Bhadgaon in view of valor lasting
for three days. Then comes Bhoto Jatra, Sweta Macchendranath Snan,
Swasthani, Maghe Sankranti, Basanta Panchame and Saraswati
Puja , Maha Shivaratri , Losar , Holi or Fagu Purnima,
Chaitra Dasain, Ghode Jatra, Red Machhendranath Jatra, Buddha
Jayanti, Gunla, Janai Purnima and Raksha Bandhan, Gai Jatra,
Teej, Indra Jatra, Dasain, Mani Rimdu, Tihar, Bala Chaturdarsi,
Bibah Panchami, Yomari Punhi festivals which celebrate
respectively in various months of the year. The most enjoyable and
enchanting festival of Nepal is Dashin.
Festivals are generally held in different temples and along the
banks of sacred rivers which have their own particular meanings and
purposes. People follow rituals according to their faith
and tradition for generations. Different religious sects in
Nepal have always co-existed peacefully. |
