The climatic condition of India

The climatic condition of India can best be described in terms of an annual cycle of seasons. 4 main seasons may be distinguished (please click on each for more information):

  Cold weather months are: December , January, February
Days however are generally warm and nights cold.
Slight frost is not uncommon in places with high altitudes.
Weather is fine and really delightful.
Clear skies. Low temperatures and humidity, cool breeze and rainless days are observed.
   Hot weather months are:  March, April, May
Highest day temperature(38 ° Celsius) in March   are found in  Deccan Plateau.
In April the Highest day temperature in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. is 42 ° Celsius to 43 ° Celsius.
In Northwest, dry and hot winds blow in the  afternoon and very often they continue even up to midnight.
During May dust-storms are very common in the evenings in Punjab, Haryana, Eastern Rajasthan and Utter Pradesh.
Light rains and pleasant cool breeze are accompanied  welcoming a respite form the oppressing heat.
  Monsoon season  months areJune, July , August, September
Distribution of rainy season, however goes on decreasing from south to north and from east to west.
Fair amount of rainfall occurs in Deccan plateau and Madhya Pradesh.
Scanty rainfall is received in west Rajasthan.
Wide spread rain occurs in north and north east India.
  Retreating monsoon months areOctober, November
 By the beginning of October, retreating monsoon withdraw   from northern plains.
They form a period of transition from hot rainy season to dry winter condition.
Retreat of monsoon is marked by clear skies and rise in temperature.
Land is still moist.
In Northern India mercury begins to fall rapidly in second half of October.
